Dear Prius Drivers,

Why do you start slowing down for a red light that is about half a mile out? Are you afraid that your Prius would not brake on time? Are you see that your gas mileage is 100 when you step off the gas and you know that you need to stop anyway for the next light, why not get the 100mpg for the half mile?

Are you aware of how much it annoys the driver behind you? Have you ever given a thought about their brake pads? What if they expect you not to slow down before such distance from their next red light? How much of a road rage it can cause?

I really don't know about others, but it frustrates me quite a bit to be behind a Prius driver who drives like a grandma (no offence to grandmas) when they can do much better. It makes me wonder what goes on in your mind.

The CR12J2 Mystery - SOLVED

One line solution: Get yourself a new power supply, a good one.

Details:
Thanks to Subodh who helped me fix this. So, took my rig to his place. He looked at it and disconnected the existing power supply and replaced a new one. Everything worked like a miracle. Of course, we had to set a few other things right in the rig. But the culprit for the CR12J2 was just the power supply. If you encounter it, I would strongly suggest changing the power supply.

And, do let me know if that works for you.

Day 1 of Western Conference Finals

It is day 1 of the NBA Western Conference Finals. It will be fun to see how the fouling Spurs fare against MVP Kobe and his Lakers.

The Eastern Conference finals seem to be a Home-winner affair. The Celtics have been undefeated at home so far in the post season. Do the Pistons have it in them to defeat the Celtics at home?

Home Computer Issues

The Home computer had a major issue. It wouldn't boot up sometimes. I thought I must accidentally put it to sleep without realizing that there is no way for it wake up since I have a wireless keyboard and mouse.

After opening it up again today, I found that pressing the power button switches everything ON and the whole system turns off itself in about a second. The only indication that something is amiss on the mother-board was an orange light (CR12J2) next to the blue power light. Later after some searching I realized that I did not seat the memory correctly. (I think it must have been displaced because I have been fiddling around with the case wiring on the mother board). Removing the memory and putting it back in did the trick. Now my new baby is back up again to its full glory. A Vista User experience rating of 5.3 (not bad huh!)

The Home Computer

Finally, all the components were in place and the couple things that were stopping me from giving the final touches were bought in the nearby Fry's and its all done.

I also ordered a Dell SP2208WFP 22 inch monitor and got it shipped yesterday and the machine is finally up to its full glory.

Installing software is the only bit that is pending. Hopefully this weekend would provide me with an opportunity to finish it off and also I need to find a good location for my home-office.

Some more on the home computer...

More deals allowed me to buy a few more things:

  • Intel Quad Core Q6600 CPU for 229 came along with a ECS Motherboard (will not be using ECS motherboard)
  • Microsoft Wireless Keyboard and Laser Mouse
  • 1TB Seagate Internal HDD
  • Unknown brand DVD +/- RW

Am still not sure about the cabinet and the monitor. I should be settling on something soon.
